The streets are wet; water flows vigorously on the canals and drainages, washing away the dust and debris that pollution spewed over the city, dark and musky, as it reflects the gray sky, one must avoid it at all cost. But the rain won’t stop as it continuously pours on rooftops, yet faint and…

This is a log of a conversation I had with a believer. We’ve had conversations and debates about religion. But most of the time he just quotes bible verses over and over. It’s not that I can’t tolerate it but it seems that he can’t generate his own conclusions and opinions. I asked him to stop sending me bible quotes but he can’t seem to understand why. I wish he would just respect me and stop sending those but he didn’t so here it goes.
Believer:
God sees your upsets- about nursing.
BEARING THE SORROW
(Isaiah 53:3, 5)
“My heart breaks for you. Do you think I am blind to your suffering? Do you think I don’t understand, don’t feel with you? I bear the sorrow, the deep hurting emotions, the wrenching disappointment with you, I am your constant companion. I do not only walk beside you to comfort; I live within you to feel, to hurt with you, to bear your suffering as if it were My own. It is My own, for I have made it to be so. So you see, you are not alone, you are not misunderstood, you are not on your own as you think as you are.
You and I are one. When you hurt, I hurt—when you grieve, I grieve with you. I want you to know these things because I love you so much!”
- JESUS, THE BURDEN-BEARER
Me:
I don’t think you really understood me back then. I already told you before that I don’t believe in a god or any kind of supernatural omnipotent being that guides us and watches over us from an imaginary place. Those words does not have any spiritual, inspirational or divine meaning to me. In fact, it bothers me that people actually believe in this.
And so god created pain so he too can experience it in the form of his son which is also himself. I’m sorry sir but I’m not convinced.
I hope I made it clear to you this time. You too, my good sir is being arrogant when you send me these. I’m glad that you had the time to read my articles and I hope it opened your eyes somehow to what’s really happening in this world. Social awareness is the key to social reform.
For me, religion is a form of denial. You have to accept what you see and experience in this world as it is, rather than hide and seek some imaginary assistance. Face it with all your might, courage, and compassion, and you’ll be surrounded by people supporting you, believing you, and struggling to achieve a goal with you along the way.
I know you do not approve nor convinced that a man can live without belief in god. But I tell you sir, people can live and die without belief in god and they lived and died like humans. You can too, and it’s relatively easy if you really wish too. But off course, I bet you can’t for you believe in the concept of hell and once you reject the existence of the god described in the bible, you’ll surely go to hell. You don’t want that to happen don’t you? Now let me tell you this: How can you think of going to heaven knowing that many people are burning everyday in hell and you can’t do nothing to save them? Isn’t it more like hell? (quote form Richard Carrier)
I hope this would be the last time that I would receive something like this from you. Let’s set aside religion and talk normally like the human beings that we are.

Believer:
God honors your choice.
But remember, your vow to Him. He will take your words seriously.
When you see the Lord in the sky, fulfill your vow, ok? Im not kidding.
Hope this a conversation, not as a religious and a atheist, but as friends, Mr. Skeptic. :)
Me:
One reason why societies stay dilapidated and backwards is because many people believe that the world will end in their lifetime. That’s just sad because such belief just hinders a man’s full potential. This is not the dark ages my friend. I’m not as skeptical as you think for I believe in things that’s not that conventional as well. Like having sex in zero gravity. That’s just clever isn’t it? But I bet you haven’t thought of that. :)
I never made a vow to an imaginary existence. Only to you. You are sure that it would happen, and I’m sure as well that it won’t. We believe that what we believe is the truth and only truth. Different as it may seem, but the world still goes on as it is. And the universe still exists as it should. However, I believe you should focus on things that truly happen and things that really matter, Mr. Believer. :)
Believer:
Ok, whatever it may be. I will take your words. :)
You know, i am focus on things are happening today.
You haven’t seen me for a long time, but…
Me and God have counseled and fed a homeless guy.
We have encouraged a person victim of abortion and abdultery.
We have counseled and helped a women victims of womanizing.
We have helped and blessed a victim of rape.
We have blessed a person suffering from poverty.
We have followed up numerous persons in agony due to loss of loved ones.
We have saved a person from committing suicide.
Jesus cares. so am i.
I am not boasting these, but informing you of false assumptions about us. Have a good judgment, Mr Skeptic. :)
the Creator Exist. He cares.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.
And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Heb 11:1, 6)
Me:
I can see that we both agree on certain things. We could talk about that instead and put our beliefs totally aside.
And sir, for the nth time, I’m not seeking faith, I do not wish to believe, I’m not trying to please anyone and I do not wish to reap rewards. I am free and I’m enjoying life as it is. This may work for you but it does not work for me any longer. I hope you could finally respect that. :)
Believer Sent me a new message quoting bible verses that tells me that his god’s words are true and that it is greater than any philosophy. It doesn’t really matter to me but I just wish to make him stop. It’s annoying and it seems he can’t respect my beliefs.
I marked it as spam and reported it in FB.
I’m unfriending him the next time he sends me something like that. I want to talk to a human, not a walking Bible.

Although I believe the war initially started over oil and an attempt to “bring justice” to those that lost their lives on 9/11, I now believe that the war is very religiously motivated — It’s Christians (Western world) against Muslims (Middle East) in a death match!

Thomas reportedly told authorities that he read in the Old Testament that homosexuals should be stoned to death. When Seidman allegedly made homosexual advances toward him over a period of time, Thomas said he received a message in his prayers that he must end Seidman’s life, according to court documents.
If this had happened in biblical times, Thomas would have been considered a man of god by modern, moderate Christians. But since this happened now he is considered a crazy man at best or a fundamentalist murderer at worst. Isn’t it amazing how religion warps the most basic elements of morality? How evil stops being evil when god commands so?
